Mardan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) is a self-governing authority. It was enacted in 1990 by an ordinance.

Financial and executive concerns of BISE Mardan are under the purview of the institution’s board of trustees. As a result, BISE Mardan can create, reorganise and reform administrative and financial systems at all intermediate and secondary education institutes linked to it or that fall within its jurisdiction.

BISE Mardan has jurisdiction over the districts of Mardan, Swabi, and Nowshera. “affiliate institutions providing SSC and HSSC education within Pakistan and abroad, prescribe courses of instruction for SSC and HSSC, ensure provision of requisite facilities in the affiliated institutions, hold exams, appoint examiners and supervisory staff, and institute measures to promote the physical well-being of students” are the responsibilities of BISE Mardan.

There are only half a million students in schools in Mardan, and the Ministry of Education Pakistan has a huge obligation to keep the system running smoothly.

Mardan is the second-largest city in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, behind Peshawar. 36 percent of the population of Mardan District is between the ages of 5 and 16.

About 1,995 schools (Boys 1009 and Girls 906) and 8100 classrooms are available for students in the area. There aren’t enough schools in Mardan District to accommodate the burgeoning population.

However, BISE Mardan has launched a number of new projects to help parents and students, such as OMR (Optical Mark Recognition system) for computerised paper marking, sms system to notify students and supervisory staff, and Online Enrollment and Registration to bring 100% accuracy in the data and prompt response to their doorstep.
